Manuel Antonio
Costa Rica
Considered by many to be Costa Rica's most beautiful park, Manuel Antonio offers white sand beaches fringed with rainforest abundant with wildlife. The rain forest is great for hiking, quad biking and bird watching, but it has to be said that, beautiful as the National Park is, either Arenal or Rincon offer a better adventure experience for canopy rides and kayaking.
There is a gay naturist beach at the north end of the bay, away from prying eyes in its own secluded cove accessible over rocks only at low tide. This makes Manuel Antonio a place to chill and unwind rather than an adventure destination. Enjoy superb dining in the many restaurants and bars of Manuel Antonio or seven kilometres away in the small town of Quepos.
There is a distinctly edge of the world feel to this part of Costa Rica party due to its relative inaccessibility - although the newly created airstrip makes it just a 25 minute flight from San Jose - and partly due to the artists and artisans that have settled here over the past 25 years.
As a gay destination, there is a lot going for it. Besides the gay beach, there are several gay bars and most local restaurants recognise their popularity with our community by offering weekly gay nights.
We feature three exclusively gay properties located on the ridge and offering stunning views over the rainforest to the ocean.
