Our Green Policy
We're all aware that we need to do something about the damage society is doing to our planet's structure with phrases like global warming and ozone layer appearing in the media almost daily. Rightly or wrongly, travel has come in for a fair bit of criticism and so we have devised our own Green Policy as follows:
Short Haul Destinations
To introduce more holiday destinations that are closer to the UK and so require shorter air flights and to introduce destinations that can be reached by car or train.
This year we have introduced holidays to Spain and Turkey as well as Antwerp which can be reached by car or train. More European destinations are in planning
Reduce our energy consumption in the office.
The office is now heated by a condensing gas boiler operating at 99.6% efficiency. ( and wow have our gas bills dropped !). We've installed sun blinds to keep out the summer sun and save the need to cool the office.
All our non essential office equipment now operates on time switches for overnight and weekends so there is minimal stand-by electrical consumption. We even turnt he fridge off at weekends.
Change our operating habits to reduce waste.
We have introduced re-use trays so that all paper is printed on both sides before being discarded into special bins for re-cycling by the local authority. All our printers use re-fillable cartridges so we only buy ink rather than also the plastic casing.
All our rubbish is pre-sorted into that suitable for recycling and that for land-fill. We are working with our local authority to further pre-sort our rubbish so a greater percentage is recycled or incinerated.
Standardised our stationery to just one size of paper and envelopes. We issue flight e-tickets and as much documentation as possible on standard recycled A4 paper to minimise waste and make re-cycling simpler.
Continue to adopt a best practice amongst the travel industry.
We are being pro-active in learning about industry best practice and have introduced several of the above changes as a result of articles and wider ideas. Best thing is that by operating with green credentials, we are saving money which we pass on to customers through cheaper holidays.
