Berlin

Berlin is a gay and lesbian visitor’s metropolis offering everything that visitors need to feel at home whether it's for a short city break or a longer stay. The unique gay and lesbian infrastructure of bars, clubs, shops and other services neatly divides between the former West around Fuggerstrasse, Motzstrasse and Winterfeldstrasse, where there is an intense concentration and rainbow flags flutter everywhere. The former East in Prenzlauer Berg is where the bars and clubs are more discrete.

Berlin is more than just a gay scene city, although the gay museum is worth a visit. There is a real sense of modern history as you turn each corner taking in the modern styles of the former West to the more starkness of the Eastern architecture albeit jazzed up in pastel colours. And then witness the rebirth, modern 21st century blocks have gone up in the past two decades. Stroll the Tiergarten and then down the Unter den Linden. Enjoy the opera – there are two opera houses – and the huge range of cultural activities on offer which include over 70 museums, one housing 70 pieces of Picasso works. And of course, not forgetting Berlin is the fashion capital of Germany.

If all this sounds too much for a short break, then we do recommend you book our first morning orientation walking tour of both the East and West of the city.
