Bangkok
Thailand
Bangkok – the self-styled City of Life in the Land of Smiles. And with outstanding sight-seeing, world-class shopping and an outrageous gay nightlife, we doubt they are far wrong.
Just head for the Grand Palace or the nearest Wat (temple) and you’ll see what we mean. Gold and sparkle everywhere and there are some amazing roofs and buildings to take your breath away. Travel the Chao Phraya river and canals on the network of river buses for just 120baht (£2) for a day rover ticket or take a day’s excursion to that other river – the River Kwai – to walk over the famous bridge and visit the museums that tell the story of the construction of the WW2 Death Railway.
But Bangkok is more that a city in the past. Check out MBK or Siam Centre with some amazing 21st century shopping malls with bargains from world famous brands through cheap but quite acceptable fakes to local ethnic goods at prices you’ll hardly believe and even VAT refunds available.
And then there is the gay nightlife in the network of Sois or alleyways in Silom. Find bars and clubs that cater for every fetish as well as friendly neighbourhood coffee shops. See some truly outrageous shows or simply grab a changa beer and watch the world go by.
All our Bangkok hotels have been personally inspected and confirmed as welcoming to gay men and lesbians, either individually or as a couple. They all within easy reach of Silom, the shopping centres and the transport system. As is common throughout Thailand, if you invite a “joiner” back to your room, they will be required to deposit their ID card at reception for your and the hotel’s protection and a small “joiner’s fee” may be charged.
