Arenal

Few natural things can compete with the night time sight of Arenal Volcano throwing out red hot molten lava into a night time sky. Dormant until 1986, Arenal now puts on regular shows to the delight of its many visitors - although not always to order.

The area is also a great adventure destination. Take a scenic boat ride or white water rafting and windsurfing on Lake Arenal, a leisurely stroll through the rainforest on the Hanging Bridges or an adrenalin pumping abseil on a jungle roof-top canopy ride or just chill out in the naturally heated pools at Tabacon Springs. Ride a quad bike or horse ride through the rain forest or explore the nearby town of La Fortuna.

There's more than enough to do in Arenal for a three day stay and there is always your hotel's pool and terraces, most with stunning volcano views, to chill out on.
