Mykonos comes alive over the summer months when gay men and lesbians from all over the world descend upon Greece's most gay-friendly island.
This small island, part of the Cyclades, is famous around the globe for its cosmopolitan character and its picturesque whitewashed buildings, but with its stunning views of the Aegean Sea and sleepy fishing villages you’ll find this place has managed to avoid the disasters of mass tourism.
Wander around the narrow streets of Mykonos Town (or Chora meaning simply town as it is locally known) shopping for local arts and crafts and designer clothes or looking for that special bar or restaurant to visit once the sun goes down.
Or head out to unwind and relax on one of the many beautiful golden sandy beaches which all welcome gay and nude bathers. They’re easy to reach by taxi, bus or ferry. Both SuperParadise and Elia are popular with gay travellers and with their southerly aspect catch the sun all day. Super comes alive around 5pm, when the two beach bars turn up the music and it’s party time !
Gay bars and clubs in Chora are never too far away for late night parties and the islands other activites are simply endless but why not just chill in one of the bars around the harbour and watch the ferries come and go ?
Flights depart London Gatwick on a Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. And Manchester on a Friday.
