Europe, Madrid
A modern yet classical hotel, close to all major attractions
This Best Western chain hotel is located in a quiet pedestrian street just behind the Puerta del Sol. Some of Madrid’s most beautiful and well-known attractions are within walking distance of the hotel, including the Plaza Mayor, the Royal Palace and the Prado Museum. It's about a ten minute walk up the Gran Via and across to gay barrio Cheuca.
The 3-Star Carlos V Hotel has 67 guest rooms spanning over 6 floors. Built in 1949, it was last renovated in 2000, so manages to combine its classically decorated décor with all modern conveniences.
All of the air-conditioned guest rooms have a private bathroom and are decorated in warm tones with dark wood furniture, all with complimentary Internet connection and satellite television.
Although the hotel doesn’t have its own restaurant, guests can grab a snack in the bar area, or enjoy a cocktail at the end of their busy day.

Rating and advising on hotels around the world is a tricky business as standards and facilities vary so widely not to mention issues such as décor style, service levels and location with particular relevance to gay amenities.
We don’t pretend that we have got this right but our Pink Triangles are our attempt to give a personal assessment to enable comparisons to be made between the various properties in an area which we feature. Couple this with price and our hotel descriptions and you should be able to make a reasonable assessment.
