Far East, Bangkok
A boutique hotel in a quiet oasis of calm
The Sukhotai was Bangkok’s first boutique hotel when it opened in 1991 and set new standards of service and luxury which have been maintained to this day. Located at the end of a private driveway and surrounded by six acres of lush tropical gardens and decorative lily pools, there are 210 large contemporary Thai style guest rooms in low rise buildings linked by colonnades.
Our Superior rooms are 38 sqm with queen sized beds and a stunning teak-floored bathroom with an oversized bathtub, separate shower and toilet enclosures, bathrobes, hair dryer, phone and luxurious toiletries. The Deluxe Suites are 76sqm with a living room with two Thai-style sofas divided by a wall with a set of double teak doors. They have a stunning 25 sqm bathroom with mirrors on every wall and a silk covered chaise lounge in the centre of the floor.
The hotel is known throughout Asia for its gay friendliness and attracts many same-sex couples. The 25m surface tension pool and extensive sun terraces adjoin a state of the art fitness club and with day memberships available, offers a friendly meeting point.
Located on Sathorn Road, the Sukhothai is just 10 minutes walk from SilomSoi 4 and a little further to the nearest SkyTrain station for easy access around Bangkok. Alternatively the hotel offers a daytime shuttle along Silom Road and to Lumpini Park.

Rating and advising on hotels around the world is a tricky business as standards and facilities vary so widely not to mention issues such as décor style, service levels and location with particular relevance to gay amenities.
We don’t pretend that we have got this right but our Pink Triangles are our attempt to give a personal assessment to enable comparisons to be made between the various properties in an area which we feature. Couple this with price and our hotel descriptions and you should be able to make a reasonable assessment.
