Frequently regarded as the most beautiful of Thailand’s off shore islands, Koh Samui lies just off the east coast in the Gulf of Thailand. Whilst there’s none of the high rise, over development and bustle of some Thai beach resort areas, there is still enough gay nightlife and beaches to make this a good destination for our community. Plus with a brand new airport and direct flights from Bangkok, Phuket and Singapore for international connections, it’s not as difficult to reach as before.
The island is not big – a drive around the ring road takes around an hour and a half - and our full day island tour is a great way to see some of the amazing traditional Thai sights. Most people come for the beaches and warm seas – all our featured properties are on tree fringed beaches and provide complimentary sun-loungers, parasols and beach towels. But there are some interesting wats (temples) and waterfalls where you can swim in the pools. Culinary skills are legendary in Samui with chefs from all over the world vying to satisfy your taste buds with a mix of international dishes with a touch of Thai flavouring.
Samui gay life is quite different from elsewhere in Thailand. Here you’ll find a greater mix of styles and facilities mostly along the Chaweng Beach Road. From the “commercial” bars in the central section around Starbucks to the Cabaret Bars with their nightly shows and the Three Gems Project with the Emerald Green Men’s Day Spa and Sapphire Blue Restaurant in South Chaweng.
Please note that all our Koh Samui hotels have been personally inspected and confirmed as welcoming to gay men and lesbians, either individually or as a couple. As is common throughout Thailand, if you invite a “joiner” back to your room, they will be required to deposit their ID card at reception for your and the hotel’s protection and a small “joiner’s fee” may be charged
