31 July – 7 August 2010

Cologne Rodenkirchen Bridge

The biggest sports and cultural festival in the world will take place in Cologne in early August some 12,000 participants from more than 70 countries will converge for the Gay Games VIII Cologne 2010 to celebrate the principles of participation, inclusion and personal best.

Gay Games is a wonderful event and being so close, Gay Games Cologne offers an excellent opportunity to participate and enjoy a gay environment whether you are competing or simply watching events. It’s a fascinating city to explore with the iconic cathedral or Dom dominating all.

The motto of Gay Games VIII Cologne 2010 is “Be part of it!”

Why book with Amro?

Amro have unbeatable experience in sending both individuals and teams to Gay Games.  In 2002, Alan and Andrew from Amro led a team of golfers to participate in VI Gay Games in Sydney and in 2006, at VII Gay Games Chicago.  Amro have also arranged flights and accommodation for several team events as well as individuals.

Cologne enjoys one of the best transport systems of any German city and getting around is very easy and quick using the network of trams and trains which are fast and frequent.  Taxis are also readily available and for short trips around the city are not expensive. In addition, the many Games venues and events are spread out around the city meaning there is no obvious area in which to stay.

The Old Town and Bermuda Triangle gay villages are inevitably popular and hotels within walking distances of these areas are more expensive.  So we also have a selection of more affordable hotels which are around a 20 minute ride away.  All are close to tram stops - many also have car parks.

We can also pre-book tickets for the Opening and Closing Ceremonies – not to be missed – and for the many other events.

Getting to Cologne is easy – there are direct flights from most UK regional airports bookable online.  From the London area, Eurostar with a change at Lille is often quicker and with Cologne less than 250 miles from the Channel Ports, driving in your own car can be good value if you are in a group.  Just contact us and we can book Eurotunnel, trains and ferries for you as part of a package.
