Iguacu Falls
Argentina
They are not the tallest nor even carry the largest volume of water, but the shear number of 275 Falls dropping over 82 metres justifiably makes Iguazu one of the great falls of the world. Set in a spectacular National Park of sub-tropical rainforest, the Falls span the Iguazu River – the natural frontier between Brazil and Argentina.
Resist the temptation to rush your time here by spending just one night. With so many different Falls, there is the opportunity to witness them close up either from a Zodiac dinghy – with optional drenching if you wish – or the many catwalks.
The Brazilian Park provide a wider more expansive view that shows the shear scale and size of the Falls and knowledgeable guides can help make it all come very much alive. The many twists and turns of the trails and catwalks in the Argentine Park open up spectacular new vistas which reveal both the beauty and complexity of the Falls from different angles and at very close quarters. These are best explored in your own time as is walking through the forest which displays an array of fauna and flora unseen in Europe.
