Galapagos Islands
Ecuador
These are undoubtedly the ultimate destination for anyone wishing to come face to face with some of the world’s most astonishing wildlife - and you don't need to be a naturalist to appreciate them as the local guides are truly excellent. For nearly fifty years now, the islands and surrounding ocean have been a National Park and are now also a UNESCO World Heritage Site making them probably the most unspoilt place on earth.
So rare are many of the wildlife species here that over half of the bird life, reptiles and plants cannot be found anywhere else on earth! What’s more, their complete lack of fear rather than tameness, enables visitors to observe them at incredibly close quarters - the blue footed boobies will even peck at your sandals - given the chance!
Its a 90 minute flight from Quito to the Galapagos Islands and we recommend staying aboard the M/V Santa Cruz with no more than 90 passengers. These mini-cruises enable many islands and landings to be made to see the largest variety of wildlife both on land and in the ocean during a short visit.
Please note that the Galapagos National Park entry fee is not included in our prices.
