Lima

Peru

Lima
If you like bustle, then Lima the capital of Peru is just right for you. This modern capital city mixes ancient Inca Heritage with two centuries of Spanish Colonial rule in a location overlooking the Pacific Ocean in a climate where it never rains - or so they claim!

It's worth a spending sometime here to understand how the two dominant cultures - Spanish and Inca - have impacted on a cosmopolitan city and a way of life. It's also amazingly gay and lesbian friendly with a good mix of bars and clubs within walking distance of the main hotel district and the Minotauro Bar is a 10 minute taxi ride away.

As a country, Peru is blessed with a rich and ancient past and a vibrant present and Lima is a great starting point. Machu Picchu, Cusco and The Sacred Valley are all rightly famed but Nasca, famous for it mysterious lines, Arequipa and Lake Titicaca, the world's highest navigable waterway, or Colca Canyon, home to the majestic condors are all worth a visit if you can extend your stay beyond a week.
