Villa Venice was built in the 1960’s as an apartment block and converted into a gay men’s retreat some twelve years ago. It's located just 2 blocks back from Ft Lauderdale beach and just a fifteen minute walk to either the gay sections at 18th Street or Sebastian Street. The Galleria Mall for shopping and great restaurants is 15 minutes walk away.
Over the past five years it has been substantially upgraded by Terry to provide 25 clean and functional guest rooms in a unique European style. The staff are informative and helpful and create a welcoming atmosphere while the lush pool and fountain make a great place to hang out if you don’t fancy the beach.
The standard and deluxe rooms both have Queen size beds and no views, whilst the Salon Suites (pool view) have either a King size bed or 2 Queen size beds.
Rating and advising on hotels around the world is a tricky business as standards and facilities vary so widely not to mention issues such as décor style, service levels and location with particular relevance to gay amenities.
