Not for nothing Nashville is known worldwide as the Music City – born from Gospel singing and grown into Country Music - Nashville is at the heart of so many sounds and names from the past and today. This is an up and coming a gay destination as you’d expect from a city steeped in the music industry.
First stop has to be the imposing Country Music Hall of Fame that tells the story of the evolution of country music into one of the most popular sounds of today. See exhibits of the artists and visit RCA Studio B. Feel the history of standing in the very studio where greats like Elvis, Jim Reeves, Roy Orbison and Dolly Parton recorded their hits. Don’t forget the Musician’s Hall of Fame either which tributes the many unknown musicians who provided the backing to so many hits.
Then take in a concert at the Grand Old Opry or one of the other 100+ live music venues including the Honky Tonks – the bars where those trying to make it play for tips. Head for Church Street where a collection of a gay bars, clubs and restaurants provide an alternative to the country music scene.
Fancy some shopping then head for Tennessee’s largest shopping mall the Opry Mills which features the best names in manufacturers' and retail outlets. And if you are a fan of Jack Daniels, make the 90 minute trip north to Lynchburg – home of the only Jack Daniels Distillery in the world.
