Barcelona
Spain
Arrive at Barcelona’s curiously named El Prat airport and take the train into the City of Barcelona to the North. The main gay area in Barcelona is called L'Eixample or Gayxample.
It's a ten minute walk from the Las Ramblas, Barcelona’s most famous street. It runs from the port, to the centre of town and the Plaza Cataluna. It’s famous for Barcelona's best street performers and the changing street markets. It's a constant highway of people walking up and down it to experience its many visual delights. And it’s only then a short walk to experience some of Gaudi’s most whimsical architecture.
When the sun sets is when Barcelona really comes to life. After a hot day, the boys come out to play! Barcelona's gay scene is lively and stylish but remember in Spain you don't go out to eat until 10pm, the bars don't get going until midnight and the discos don't even open until 3am, so get some sleep in before you go out because you will be out all night drooling over those gorgeous Catalan boys.
Barcelona positively teams with attractions – be it gay bars, clubs and discos, saunas and gyms, shopping or just friendly gay owned restaurants. We suggest you pop into your first gay bar and ask for a map of all the gay establishments. You sure to be handed one not only with a smile but lots of advice on where is hot!.
Barcelona has two popular gay beaches San Sebastian on the southern side by the foot of the last tower of the Montjuic skyway and La Mar Bella in front of the Lorenzo Gay Beach bar by the Sports Complex of the same name. However it does have to be said that in summer weekends the place to head for is Sitges.
